Darwin Who?

On 25-October-2005, Worldnetdaily.com reported that a CBS Poll indicates that a majority of Americans believe that God created human beings, and reject the theory of evolution.

According to the Worldnetdaily.com article, the survey showed "51 percent say God created humans in their present form, and another three in 10 say that while humans evolved, God guided the process. Just 15 percent say humans evolved, and that God was not involved."

Participants were asked to choose from the following three options:

1. Human beings evolved from less advanced life forms over millions of years, and God did not directly guide this process;

2. Human beings evolved from less advanced life forms over millions of years, but God guided this process;

3. God created human beings in their present form.

It appears that those most likely to believe in only evolution are liberals (36 percent), those who rarely or never attend church services (25 percent), and those with at least a college degree (24 percent). Hmm, interesting numbers here.

Worldnetdaily.com reported that “The survey was taken via telephone from a nationwide random sample of 808 adults Oct. 3-5, and has a margin of error of plus or minus four percentage points.”

Draft Constitution Approved

I remember feeling a lump in my throat when Baghdad fell to coalition forces and I saw the crowd of Iraqis pulling down that statue of Saddam Hussein. I felt an even bigger lump in my throat when some 8 million Iraqis came out to vote in January. They came out for the whole world to see. Those purple stained fingers became their badge of courage. I find it hard to imagine going out on the street to walk to a voting station after the terrorists threatened the people with being shot, beheadings, and torture.

Well, the Iraqi people have taken another step towards changing their piece of the world when they voted 78.6 % for the draft constitution. (21.4 % voted against it) These percentages reflect the nationwide vote according to the Associated Press. To all the naysayers, you’re wrong again. The Iraqis want to be free, whether you like it or not. And they demonstrate it time after time, after time.

No Guts, No Glory

I’ve posted a sign on a bulletin board where I work that announced this blog. (I only post and work on my blog on my own time, on my own computer) The sign is a color picture of a snow capped mountain with the words Rocky Mountain Neo-Con printed across the mountain. The next line reads – ‘A Conservative Blog’ followed by the url rockymountainneocon.blogspot.com.

The bulletin board is a public one and anyone can post any bills or flyers they choose.

I passed by the board yesterday, and I noticed that someone had underlined the words Rocky Mountain Neo-Con with a blue ball point pen and wrote in the margin – "Idiot F*ckers". Of course, it wasn’t signed. Since I work at a state college, I can only guess that the deed was done by a liberal student or professor who hates conservatives, neo or otherwise. I just had to laugh at the immature vandalism perpetrated by a puke, or punk. I guess either term fits the imbecile. And considering the cuss word, I just have to keep in mind that profanity is the language of ignorance.

When I got home, I looked at my postings on my blog to see if the puke had left a comment. He or she didn’t. But that doesn’t surprise me. Liberals and leftists on college campus’ tend to be cowardly anyway.

Well, whoever did it, just consider how stupid your childish ‘comment’ appears. You should at least have the curiosity to read the content of my blog and the courage to post a comment. But you don’t seem to have the courage to attempt a debate.

No Guts, No Glory.

Oops, I forgot, I’m talking about college educated, knee-jerk reactionary liberals.

Ann Coulter once wrote:

“When you can successfully articulate an opposing opinion, you are an adult. When you can’t, you’re a liberal.”

Fall Festival, Harvest Festival, Or Halloween?

No matter what you call it, Fall Festival or Harvest Festival, it’s still Halloween; it’s still a pagan holiday.

This pagan holiday will be here next week on 31-October-2005. Halloween is second only to Christmas in commercial sales. Walk through any department store, or large drug store and you’re assaulted by witches, ghosts, goblins, and jack-o-lanterns. Halloween is a big deal, and I don’t mean just in sales.

If you drive by any elementary school the week before Halloween, you’ll see children dressed up in all sorts of costumes. Nowadays, a lot of the costumes seem benevolent enough. Fairy princess’, Spiderman, M & M candies, etc. These types of costumes can be cute, and they make for good photographs. Parents can be very creative in making up costumes.

Sometimes the costumes are just a little more sinister. Little vampires, little witches, little Jason’s, or Freddy Krueger’s. Kids walking around with fake blood on their tattered clothes, fake scars or open wounds that just “stick on”. Many Christians seem to enjoy the Halloween season just as much as non-believers. “What’s wrong with letting the kids have a little fun? It’s just make-believe.”

But making-believe what? That sometimes it’s okay to be a witch, a vampire, or an axe murderer? It’s not okay. The celebration is still of Halloween, a holiday that’s as pagan as you can get.

Halloween has its roots in three eras of history each with their own celebrations that have merged to form the Halloween of today.

The first celebration goes back to pre-Christian Ireland and Scotland as a celebration of the Druids or Celtic priests. The Celtic new year was November 1st, and was celebrated with the festival of Samhain. On Samhain eve, or October 31st, young people wearing grotesque masks carved lanterns from turnips and carried them through the villages. It was a harvest festival, and a festival of the dead.

The druids believed that on that night the earth came into closest contact with the spiritual world; and ghosts, goblins and witches destroyed crops, killed farm animals and brought havoc on the villages and villagers. They also believed that spirits of the dead roamed around.

During the dark ages in central Europe, The Christian church destroyed many of the temples of pagan gods and goddesses. However, the pagan worship was never completely eradicated and took on the form of witchcraft.

Many of the symbols of Halloween that we are familiar with today, such as black cats, broomsticks, cauldrons and spells, come from the Black Sabbath. The Black Sabbath is one of the highest of the Witches’ Sabbaths which was celebrated on October 31.

According to the fact sheet published by the Rocky Mountain Family council;

“The third precursor to Halloween goes back to the early Roman Catholic Church. The church had appointed certain days to honor each saint and basically ran out of days in the year for all their saints to have a day, so they decided to have one day to remember all the saints. They called it All Saints' Day. In the eighth century, Pope Gregory the third changed All Saints' Day from May 13th to November 1st, and in the year 834 Pope Gregory the fourth extended this celebration to the entire Roman church. This event was called Allhallowmass, and as you might suppose, there was a celebration on the evening before on October 31st, called All Hallow E'en, "all hallow" meaning all of the hallowed ones. As you might guess, the contraction of hallow and e'en is where the word Halloween is derived.”

So there you have it. Halloween is born. Many proponents of the Halloween celebration say that it has some roots and ties in Christianity. That is simply not true. Read your Bible. You will not find a single reference to Halloween. In fact, specific practices that are celebrated in Halloween are condemned by the Bible. Read Deuteronomy 18:10 (King James Version) which says: “There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch."

If you allow your children to celebrate Halloween, then you’re allowing the idea of paganism to enter your children’s belief system. It doesn’t matter what you call the celebration, whether Halloween or Harvest Festival, or Fall Festival. To your child, it’s still celebrating Halloween. Their friends do it, now your children get to celebrate it too. The name is different, but so what? It’s still the same.

Paganism and Christianity are mutually exclusive. It’s very dangerous for churches to organize celebrations that coincide with Halloween.

Desecration

You've probably heard about the alleged burning of dead bodies of Taliban terrorists by U.S. soldiers.
It's also been alleged that while the bodies were burning, the American soldiers were taunting Taliban terrorists nearby, telling them to "come out and fight." There seems to be a lot of concern and outrage among Muslims over the alleged incident. They're calling the burning "desecration of the dead."
Afghan President Hamid Karzai publicly condemned the alleged burning but also said that mistakes happen in war and reminded Afghans that "(American) soldiers have shed their blood in our country." The video was supposedly taken by a freelance journalist named Stephen Dupont who told the Associated Press that he was embedded with the U.S. Army's 173rd Airborne Brigade, and said the burnings occurred on Oct. 1, 2005. The video tape doesn't really show bodies being burned; all you see is a fire.

If it happened, it shouldn't have. But, that's very easy for us to say when we're sitting in the comfort and safety of our living rooms and watching the war on television.

But if it did happen, so what?

Nicholas Berg's body was desecrated when he was beheaded by Muslim terrorists. Daniel Pearl's body was desecrated when he was also beheaded by Muslim terrorists. The bodies of the four Blackwater employees were desecrated when they were burned by Muslim terrorists in Fallujah, Iraq while Iraqis danced in celebration. The burning bodies of the innocents in the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001 were desecrated also, while Palestinians danced in the streets in celebration while the fires still raged at ground zero.

War is hell, and hellish things happen in war.

If the Taliban terrorists bodies were indeed burned, all I can say is: Excuse me, my give a damn's busted.

The Hammer

According to today's headline at SFGate.com, "DeLay Smile May Foil Democrat Campaign Ads".

SFGate.com is referring, of course, to Tom DeLay's mug shot.

They also report that: "Democrats nationally are already sounding as if they'll make DeLay the poster boy for bad Republican behavior in next year's elections, when every House seat and a third of those in the Senate are up for grabs."

The Dummocrats have always tried to project Mr. DeLay as the Republican Bad Boy. The Dums just don't get it. As usual. Tom DeLay is tough, and he'll pull through this with the same big confident smile that he always shows in times of adversity. Mr. DeLay gets a lot of things done, and that is one of the many things that drive his adversaries crazy. They just can't seem to stop him.

The SFGate.com also reported that: "In the 2004 elections, DeLay won 55 percent of the vote, a relatively weak showing for a veteran House leader."

Relatively weak? I don't think so. For all you Democrats, 55 percent is a clear majority. Get it? In a Democracy, a majority wins the election. But then, lately, Democrats have only been able to win in court with liberal judges. They sure as hell can't win elections.

Jimmy Chambers Wants To Live

You should seriously think about whether or not you should sign a living will.

Jimmy Chambers, age 79, is facing a death sentence ordered by his wife.

On August 20, in Naples, Florida, Mr. Chambers was riding a lawnmower to help his son with some yard work. Mr. Chambers apparently looked away briefly and ran into a large tree limb. It bent him backwards over the machine and he was found lying unconscious.

Chambers suffered severe injuries including a broken back, a spinal chord injury and a torn aorta. He wasn't expected to leave the emergency room alive. But he did.

Mr. Chambers apparently signed a living will in 1990 when he and his wife lived in Iowa. Mrs. Chambers claims the living will reads in part that if he sustained an incurable or irreversible condition resulting in death within a relatively short period of time, it was his desire that his life not be prolonged by medical procedures.

Doctors performed surgery to repair Mr. Chambers' back, but he was now paraplegic. The doctors determined that spinal shock had left him dependent on a ventilator, and a gastric feeding tube was inserted into his abdomen. The doctors also weren't sure if Mr. Chambers would ever be able to stop using the ventilator and feeding tube.

Mrs. Chambers and one of the couple's daughters produced the living will and wanted the facility to disconnect the ventilator and kill Mr. Chambers. He didn't designate a power of attorney or anyone to serve as the medical decision maker if he were to become incapacitated. He has not been declared incapacitated, so his family asked him what he wanted to do.

Remove the ventilator or not.

After he had been off of morphine and other medication, his family asked him if he wanted to stay on the ventilator. He answered yes. Mr. Chambers was asked if he understood that he probably would never be able to go home again, and would more than likely have to live in a facility, on the ventilator, for the rest of his life and he answered yes, again. He was asked if he wanted the ventilator to be removed and he answered no. He was asked if he understood that he would die if the ventilator were removed, his answer was yes.

Mr. Chambers was moved to Anne Maria Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, in North Augusta, South Carolina, for further treatment. However, Mrs. Chambers continues to try to enforce the living will and do not resuscitate order from Iowa. Mr. Chambers has the right under Iowa law to revoke the living will. He has done so. But Mrs. Chambers continues to have authority over his care in South Carolina as well.

Meanwhile, state officials seem to not want to get in the middle of it.

A History of Violence - The Movie

Don't waste your money or time. This movie is nothing but gratuitous violence and graphic sex. There doesn't seem to be a plot, the movie just kind of plods along with no point. William Hurt and Ed Harris are both very talented actors. But neither can help this piece of cinematic crap.
Save your money to spend on a couple of good movie rentals instead.

Pagan Day Is Coming

Origins Of Halloween - Fact Sheet

This fact sheet is courtesy of the Rocky Mountain Family Council. http://rmfc.org

For a proper understanding of the modern American celebration on October 31st., we must look at three early celebrations that have come together to form today's Halloween.

The first of these precursors to Halloween goes all the way back to pre-Christian Ireland and Scotland to a celebration of the Druids or Celtic priests. The Celtic year began on November 1st with the festival of Samhain. On the eve of Samhain, October 31st, laughing bands of young people disguised in grotesque masks carved lanterns from turnips and carried them through the villages. It was sort of a harvest festival, and in addition, it was thought of as a festival of the dead. The druids believed it was on that night when the earth comes into closest contact with the spiritual world; and consequently ghosts, goblins and witches supposedly destroyed crops, killed farm animals and wreaked havoc on the villagers. As these spirits of the dead roamed around, villagers lighted bonfires to either drive them away or to guide the spirits of the dead back to their homes.

The second precursor to Halloween goes back to the Dark Ages in central Europe. There, the Christian church destroyed many of the temples of various pagan gods and goddesses, such as Diana and Apollo. However, this pagan worship was never completely eradicated and took on the form of witchcraft. One of the most important aspects of witchcraft is a number of celebrations each year which are called "Witches' Sabbaths." One of the highest of the Witches' Sabbaths is the High Sabbath or the Black Sabbath of Witches on October 31st. Much of the Halloween folklore of today such as black cats, broomsticks, cauldrons and spells come from the Black Sabbath.

The third precursor to Halloween goes back to the early Roman Catholic Church. As you might guess, the contraction of hallow and e'en is where the word Halloween is derived.

The modern custom of going door to door begging for candy while dressed in costumes called "trick or treating," goes back to the pagan new year's feast in Ireland. The spirits that were thought to throng about the houses of the living were greeted with a banquet. At the end of the feast, villagers disguised as souls of the dead, paraded to the outskirts of the village leading the spirits away. This was done to avoid any calamities the dead might bring. Another way the villagers tried to appease the dead was to set out bowls of fruit and other treats so the spirits would partake of them and leave them in peace. Later when the belief in ghosts and goblins declined, youths dressed up as ghosts and goblins and threatened to play tricks on those who failed to be generous with treats.

The jack-o-lantern, also known as will-o-the-wisp, fox fire and corpse candle, among other things, was believed to be a wandering soul which could not find refuge in either heaven or hell because of a particularly evil deed committed in its lifetime. The Finns believed that it was the soul of a child buried in the forest. A corpse candle is said to be a small flame moving through the air in the dark and is believed by the superstitious to be an omen of the observers imminent death.

According to ancient folklore from many places, a will-o-the-wisp wanders about swamp areas, enticing victims to follow. These strange fires were also known as "foolish fire," because only a fool would follow them. Today's pumpkin face is symbolic of that mocking spirit.

It is always wise to look into any customs associated with holidays and be aware of their roots.

Remembering The U.S.S. Cole

The U.S.S. Cole was bombed five years ago today. Seventeen sailors were murdered, dozens were wounded. Please pray for the families of the servicemen.
One would hope that we're smarter about terrorism than we were 5 years ago. But I doubt it, what with the seemingly prevalent "head in the sand" attitude of today.

The War Within

See Debbie Schlussel's blog today. (http://www.debbieschlussel.com/)
Oh yes, the stupidity of political correctness, and the stupidity and ignorance of liberals who advocate for and sympathize with anything anti-American. When you sympathize or empathize with anti-Americanism, you are demonstrating your own treason. You'll notice that liberals will always trash America in words and deeds, but they won't do the honest thing and leave the country.
If your're a liberal, you're welcome to leave and take up residence in a third world country.

Mohamed ElBaradei - IAEA Win Nobel Peace Prize

According to an AP story today, Mohamed ElBaradei "has led the U.N. nuclear agency (IAEA) as it grappled with the crisis in Iraq and the ongoing efforts to prevent North Korea and Iran from acquiring nuclear arms." Huh? Excuse me, but America, Britain, Australia, and a few other nations, dethroned Saddam and prevented him from getting nuclear weapons. North Korea still has nukes, and Iran probably does too. The Nobel Peace Prize is a joke, and usually is awarded to jokes, like ElBaradei, the IAEA, and Kofi Anan.
