Potluck? No Thank You
I work at a college where full time faculty have to have a Ph.D. in order to teach. Part time teachers have to have a minimum of a Masters Degree. If you recall, a poll came out recently showing that 70 percent of men and 83 percent of women washed their hands after using a public restroom. Pretty dismal numbers. What I have observed (unscientifically) is that about 98 percent of faculty don’t wash their hands after finishing their business in the restroom. There aren’t many places much dirtier than a college. Hospitals might be dirtier. The irony is that as well educated as the faculty and students are most think nothing of walking out of the restroom with contaminated hands. With what we know, (or what we should know) about the transmission of disease it’s amazing how stupid some highly educated folks can be.
Which is why I don’t participate in office potlucks. I have an aversion to e-coli, hepatitis, and other assorted bacteria and bugs.
