Fence Sitting

The U.S. House of Representatives voted on legislation in December to build a barrier or fence similar to the one built on the U.S. side of the border between San Diego California and the slum city of Tijuana in Mexico. The purpose of the fence is to stop illegal aliens from crossing into America, and it would cover one-third of the 2,000-mile U.S.-Mexican border. This largely unprotected southern border has been, and is being breached on a daily basis by illegal aliens and is a weak spot in our national security.

The legislation was written by U.S. Representative Duncan Hunter, (R) from California. Congressman Hunter estimates the cost of the barrier to be about $2 billion. He points to a sharp drop in the number of illegal aliens caught sneaking into the America through San Diego in recent years as evidence that this type of barrier works.

Attacks on Border Patrol agents along the Mexican border have risen exponentially. The perpetrators of these attacks are illegal aliens, illegal immigrant traffickers, Mexican drug traffickers, and the Mexican military.

To quote a recent Reuters story:

” But the U.S. Department of Homeland Security described the planned barrier, which would run for 698 miles, as a "stupid fence" and said it would most likely be ineffective, while the Mexican government slammed it as a disgrace.” (Emphasis added)

Stupid fence?

Remember September 11?

Remember how the “dots” weren’t connected by anyone?

Remember how fingers were pointed in every direction for missing the “dots”?

Well, F.B.I. Agent Harry Samit warned his superiors more than 70 times that Zacarias Moussaoui was a terrorist and that the al-Qaeda operative was plotting to hijack an airplane before Sept. 11.

Remember how Agent Samit was ignored by higher ranking F.B.I. officials including Director Robert Mueller?

Critics say that a barrier won’t work, and that illegals will find other ways to get into the U.S. The Reuters story said that they sneak in hidden vehicle compartments, including seat backs and gas tanks.

As Illegal aliens and the human and drug traffickers are becoming bolder, so are the Illegals that are already here. Just take a look at the massive protests that have occurred in several cities around the country. Half a million protesters in Los Angeles, fifty thousand in Denver, if the mob mentality were to strike the protesters, the police would be overwhelmed, and cities would become battlefields like Los Angeles after the Rodney King trial.

Some of the pictures of the protesters show them flying Mexican flags and holding signs saying “I’m American too” but what they mean is they’re from one of the Americas, whether Mexico, Central America, or South America. Sorry Jose, that doesn’t make you legal. And it doesn’t make you a U.S. citizen. You’re still an illegal alien. Your militant attitude makes you a problem. It also makes you a threat.

This Mexican militant attitude is a home grown threat to our security here in the U.S. and it’s flying below the radar. This militancy is becoming increasingly aggressive and needs to be monitored and dealt with.

But, I doubt it will be.
